Miss Extence | Deputy Head of School & Years 5 & 6 Phase Leader
"Together we can...inspire the writer within."
Bio
I have been teaching in Plymouth for the past 12 years and have had the pleasure of working alongside a range of professional who have helped shape my practice, challenged me, guided me and enabled me to become a supportive and passionate leader. I aim to build a team that reflects and challenges itself in order to ensure that the best possible outcomes are met.
I am excited by curriculum and am driven by research based practise. I believe that in order for a pupil to remember more a curriculum needs to be inspiring, practical and well planned to ensure that there are opportunities to revisit prior learning, allowing our pupils opportunities to build schemas and take their learning beyond the classroom.

Why Mayflower?
I met Helen and Dave in 2022 and enjoyed working alongside a leadership team that were passionate about developing the individual. Together we share the same visions and passion.
What I am reading?
Having two small children means traditional tales are regularly shared in my house. As a family we enjoy Roald Dahl. We love to read together, taking turns adding character and predicting what might happen next.Link to Padlet
What am I Researching?
I am excited by curriculum and am driven by research based practise. I am currently deepening my understanding of Trivium and am reading Preparing Young Children for the Future with Lessons From the Past.
