Community Governor | Mr Walters
Together we can...create leadership and learning good enough to share
Bio
I am committed to driving standards at Mayflower and providing the highest possible quality of service for our community. I am an experienced Chair of Governors. Prior to being elected to lead as Chair at Mayflower, I have worked as a Local Governor Improvement Champion (supporting other schools to set up and lead effectively), Chair of a local Secondary Grammar School, and also a local Special School.
As an ex-teacher, I am also well-equipped to advise, challenge and support on everything from high level strategy to the more day to day operational teacher type tasks. I am rooted in Mayflower and work tirelessly to ensure it remains, where appropriate, a focal point for all community ventures. My passion is music. I work in the community as co-founder for North Prospect Community Choir as well as Blokes Who Sing. Music at Mayflower is a fundamental part of these groups and how they stay focused on the learning of pupils and their families. It is a privilege to be part of Mayflower which is such a vibrant, inspirational and special place to learn.

Why Mayflower?
Mayflower is a school like no other. I feel a sense of pride and inspiration every time I work alongside the team there. Every day I walk into the building I am filled with a sense of purpose.
What am I reading?
I have been a sufferer of ME for over 25 years and have recently been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I am avidly reading up on research about how to promote good health, both mental and physical and stay well.
What am I Researching?
I seem to always have projects on the go. I am researching how to manage Prostate Cancer as well as build our Community Choir whilst keeping it fully accessible to all.
