Bio
EYFS Class Teacher Maisie O’Leary.
My teaching ethos centres around giving children the best opportunities to develop and grow into confident, emotionally intelligent, and caring young people. I feel it is paramount to support children’s progress through developing Communication Friendly Spaces and an environment in which learning can flourish. I believe that every child should be celebrated and made to feel valued; educators have a duty to create safe and caring settings that nurtures all children’s development and lifelong love of learning.
My approach to creating an enabling environment is heavily influenced by the work of Maria Montessori and Elizabeth Jarman. I am an advocate for encourage children to investigate and experience things

Why Mayflower?
Mayflower to me, is more than just a school; it has become a hub in the community. Priding itself on working collaboratively to support children. As an early care teacher, I feel it is important to work at a school that is constantly reflecting on practice and staying up to date with pedagogical developments
What I am reading
This book has changed my outlook on life. It taught me the importance of living in the now, whilst remaining aspirational and looking to the future. It’s an influential model of human behaviour, outlining Steve Peters understanding of the interactions between the emotional and rational parts of the brain. For me, it celebrates the complexity of each individual and how truly amazing the human mind is.
