Podcast

Intro

Hi Michele, thank you for inviting us here to Arts University Plynouth. Your art uses glass, and we have never tried this kind of art before. This podcast is going to be really great. Getting out of school and meeting you and your artist students is fantastic for us. Working in a real life art studio with you is something that we will never forget. So, let's get started.

Q1

Your name seems a little Italian. But, you are studying here in Plymouth. Could you tell us more about your life and how you ended up here studying art in our great city?

Q2

You won an internship with Morano Glass. How did it feel to achieve this great honour, and where do you think it might lead you next?

Q3

You joined the army at 16 years old. This is a regimented life. One that dictates when you eat and when you sleep. How does your life as an artist differ to this previous life of military training?

Q4

Why have you chosen to work with glass? It is such a hot and dangerous type of art. We hope that you have always stayed safe. How do you come up with your designs and can you please tell us about each step of your typical design process?

Q5

We dream of making art. The type that you remember forever. Our teachers tell us, that. Together we can...

Our Art Teacher, Rachele Greco helps us to study with real artists. Our Headteacher, Mr Sammels believes that we can dream big and make great art as we age. Have you always dreamed big dreams about making art and which one of your creations do you think you will always remember?

Q6

Which artists most inspire you? Everyone needs a role model. Who are your role models and how have they shaped your way of communicating with the world?

Q7

What is it like to work in a real art studio? Are there any tools or kit that you wished you had access to or is the Arts University the perfect place to study and make art?

Q8

Some people might say that being an artist is not a real job. That wouldn't be us by the way! What do you say to people who might think that art is not worth spending time on?

Q9

How will you continue to make art when your university course finishes? How can we help you?

Q10

What top tips have you got to anyone who wishes to work with glass as their chosen art form?

Outro

Thank you, Michele, for the most interesting day of making art with you. We feel so lucky to be here at the Arts University Plymouth. We have to go back to school now, but we must first say the biggest thank you. Your art inspires us and maybe one day we will also work, like you, with glass. Who knows? But, after meeting you. We will always believe that, Together we can...

Hi Dave & Rachele,

I just wanted to drop a message through to say how incredible and how profoundly professional all of the children are that I’ve met over the last few days. Their consummate dedication and professionalism, at such a young age, is absolutely mind blowing and a credit to you and your school and to the children’s parents and caregivers. They were a joy to speak to today on the podcast and it will always stay with me, not just as my first podcast, but as the bar to which all others will aspire to be.

Thank you for the kindness you and the children at Mayflower have shown me, I shall always remember this wonderful experience.

All the very best

Michele
