About Cross Keys Estates
Cross Keys Estate Agents was formed by the Directors Jack Merriott (MNAEA MARLA) and Craig McMillan Duncan (MNAEA MARLA) in 2003 and the first office opened in May of that year in Devonport Road, Stoke Village. Craig grew up in the Stoke area and attended the local secondary school, now known as Stoke Damerel Community College. Both Jack & Craig are also ex-serving members of the Royal Navy.
Craig and Jack are working with Mayflower to advise on our financial planning curriculum as well as co-ordinate workshops for parents on financial planning and budgeting.
Podcast Questions
Intro:
Welcome back to Mayflower to Cross Keys Estate Agents. You have agreed to help us plan some workshops that will help parents and pupils to budget and look after their money. Thank you for being with us. We can't wait to learn from you and your vast experience in property, design and community work.
- How did you get into estate agency and what attracted you to becoming property experts here in Plymouth?
- We bet you have sold some incredible properties. Do you have a favourite and why?
- We study the Fundamental British Values. How do the values of respect for others and democracy influence your daily decision-making in business?
- We hear that you are more than a property sales team. You design property interiors and advise people on how to best present their living spaces. What advice would you give someone trying to sell their house?
- Not everyone can afford to save for a mortgage deposit. This is often up to 25% of the price of a home. We are learning about things like percentages in Maths. How should we go about raising the money to own a property and do you think everyone should buy a house or is there another way to create a home?
- What do you think of people having second homes in Plymouth, and how do we help homeless people find an affordable place to live?
- If you met the King, what would you ask him to do to help us live a financially healthy life in the future?
- How has the use of technology changed estate agency, and what should we be learning in school that will support this?
- Why is it important that you keep personal information safe? What online security do you have in place to ensure that you remain safe online? Our policy is to "close the lid and tell an adult" what advice would you offer?
- Which software do you use the most in estate agency? How does this support your job, and what bit of tech would you love to see brought to the market? What would help your job be easier?
Outro:
We have loved meeting you, and we can't wait to see your work with families on budgeting for a home. We will view our parents differently - they have many bills to pay and things to think about when they make a place for us to call home. Having good maths and computing knowledge is clearly important for you to remain successful. We will try hard in class now.
Please come back soon. Thank you from us all, and remember... Together we can...
