We are learning about?
Tools for learning
With a school tagine that states we can create learning you'll remember forever, it is important that we approach learning in the most informed manner. Pupils and parents have access to specific tools to help them learn and remember more. We ultimately want these tools to be used to make links in learning, develop a deeper understanding and guide pupils as they declare and share their educated opinions.
"Together we can...create learning you'll remember forever."
Learning tools are evolving all the time. Pupils are taught and experience a wide range of methods to help them systematically approach learning. Teachers use specific lesson design principles to make certain that pupils are engaged and understand. They support pupils to select the most important aspects of lessons, organise these and their thoughts and make links to previous learning. This all leads to pupils being able to create and shape new schema. New ideas. New understanding. New learning.
As teachers, pupils and parents all innovate on methods for teaching and learning, staff as a whole direct the use of three main tools for learning. These are explored in more detail below.
Tiered Vocabulary | New Words = New Learning
Knowledge Organiser | Organising Learning = Deeper Clarity
Graphic Schema | Mapping Learning = Making Links
Assessing the depth of understanding
Recall | What I have learnt?
Question & Explore | What am I learning?
Declare and Share | What's my opinion?
