Secondary School Admissions 

Is your child due to start secondary school next year? It may seem a long way ahead but now is the time to start thinking about your child moving from primary onto secondary school. If you live in Plymouth and you child was born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012, you can apply online for a secondary (year 7) school place for your child from 23.59 on 5 September 2022. Once you've created an account through the Citizen Portal, you can apply for up to three schools (your first, second and third preference).

All the information you will need about secondary school admissions in 2022 is on the website https://new.plymouth.gov.uk/apply-secondary-year-6-year-7-school-place. From here, you can apply online for school places and read the ‘Plymouth Parent Guide’  which contains all admission policies and application forms.  

Applying online requires you to have and email address. If you require support with this or any of the other application steps, please contact our Family Support Advisors. Once you apply online we will let you know which school your child has been allocated on Wednesday 1st March 2023. If you have any problems completing the online form email the School Admissions team on school.admissions@plymouth.gov.uk.

Things to remember: 

• All Plymouth's secondary schools hold ‘open events’ for families to visit the school and speak to staff.  Please refer to the individual schools websites for dates and further information. 

• Please read the admission policy for each school carefully. 

• The deadline to apply is Monday 31st October 2022
