Together we can...create inclusive learning experiences that inspire a desire for life-long learning

Bio

I am a thinker and continually ask myself why people do what they do. I look at the link between behaviour, communication, and learning.  This is vital in my role as SENDCo when striving to help our pupils, staff, parents, and community.

I am also a listener. Listening to pupils, colleagues, professionals, and parents challenges me daily and shapes my role.

Why Mayflower?

It’s inclusive.  It has a staff who look for solutions and think carefully about what they can do, rather than what they can’t.  Its teaching philosophy is to look at the whole child and how its curriculum, environment and community can enable them to reach their full potential. It never stops…

What I am reading

The Simple Things | This magazine is my guilty pleasure.  It reminds you to slow down and appreciate what is around you.  It focuses on what we can make, what we can explore and what we can learn from the past and present.  It moves away from technology, which appeals to my creative side and inspires me to try new things.

What am I Researching?

I am passionate about using research to aid child development. An area of current focus is The Graduated Approach to Learning and how this can be used to guide families through an SEND pathway to inclusion. I am currently measuring tech impact of our 6 Steps to Strategic Support.
